Sharaka x MSHEF: A Night of Conversation
The Mark Schonwetter Holocaust Education Foundation (MSHEF) is the only foundation in the country to fund Holocaust Education grants for schools and educators nationwide. MSHEF founder and Holocaust Survivor, Mark Schonwetter will join us in person at Temple B'nai Abraham of Livingston, NJ to share his powerful story of survival while engaging in conversation with a delegation of individuals from Sharaka. Sharaka's mission is to confront extremism, radicalism, and antisemitism by learning from the powerful lessons of the Holocaust. Building bridges across the Arab world, the broader Muslim community, and the West, Sharaka’s partnership model, offers a transformative approach to challenging hatred, Holocaust denial, antisemitism and Islamophobia. Mr. Schonwetter will sit down for a conversation to share his story not only to ensure Never Again, but also as a tool for furthering Holocaust education. Learning the horrors of the Holocaust and how it came to be is more important than in any recent memory. Let's get together to hear his powerful words, support MSHEF, and consider how we can encourage Holocaust learning in all of our communities. Looking forward to seeing you there!
About Sharaka
Following the historic signing of the Abraham Accords in September of 2020, youth leaders from Israel and the Gulf came together to meet and explore each other’s countries and cultures. Sharaka was born out of this mutual exchange of visits. The goal was as simple as it was ambitious: to translate the governmental agreements to the popular level. Sharaka is unique in that it includes Israelis and Arabs, Jews, Muslims, Christians and Druze from around the Middle East, working together in partnership.
Sharaka is the only NGO that brings together diverse Muslim voices from across the Middle East—individuals who grew up in a region often shaped by antisemitic rhetoric and Holocaust distortion. Representing primarily the Abraham Accord countries, Sharaka equips its participants with the tools to confront Holocaust denial and antisemitism, empowering them to challenge harmful narratives and promote understanding. Through their delegations and on-the-ground work in the countries where they operate, Sharaka shares the stories of what happened during the Holocaust. We believe that to counter rising extremism, combat radicalization, and challenge antisemitism, it is essential to learn about the Holocaust and the lessons it holds for humanity.
