Puzzles for Climate Action
By day, I'm CCL's VP of Marketing and Communications. By night, I'm a speed puzzler extraordinaire! (Okay, I'm actually not that fast, but I'm competitive and nerdy, which is half the battle.)
This month I'll be putting my hobby to good use to raise money for climate action! I'm aiming to do at least eight 500-piece puzzles during the month of December, so 4,000 pieces total.
Pledges of:
$0.01 per piece = total donation of $40 (if I complete eight 500-piece puzzles, as planned)
$0.02 per piece = total donation of $80
$0.03 per piece = total donation of $120
You get the idea! I might end up doing fewer puzzles because life is busy with work and a 3-year old. But fair warning — I also might do more because puzzles are fun and now I have a great excuse to spend more time on them. Pledge wisely :)
(Note that the button will say "pledge per point" when you choose this option. If you prefer more certainty about your final donation amount, feel free to donate a flat amount rather than making a per-piece pledge.)
Every tax-deductible gift to Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE) directly funds the training, education, and tools Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) volunteers need to effectively advocate for climate solutions. Thanks in advance for your support!

Puzzle #3 is complete! This one went super fast and I finished it in 1 hour 40 minutes, a new personal record for me! I did it in two sittings - 1:30 yesterday after we wrapped up CCL’s December national call, and the last few pieces today. I glanced at my timer when I finished the border, and that was around minute 18.
(A few weeks ago I did a really hard puzzle where the border alone took me an hour 😂🤦🏻♀️)
Every little image in this one was distinct, with clear borders between the images, pretty unique colors across the puzzle, and several sections of text, so everything was easy to identify and place. I got a little tripped up between the two oranges and the peach. My favorite and fastest sections were the pineapple, the cactus, and the car 🤩
I’m having a blast doing this and appreciate everyone’s support 🙏🏻

Finished my second puzzle! This was a lovely nature scene that made me think of “savoring” all we’re working to save with our climate advocacy. My favorite parts of the puzzle to do were the beautiful colors in sky and the water, and it was fun to discover all the little animals perched on the log at the bottom.
I did this one on and off starting Saturday morning and just finished it up this morning during breakfast. It turned out to actually be missing three pieces! (I check out puzzles from the library and that happens, sometimes.)
So my official piece count for this one is 497 😂

Finished my first puzzle! This one was super cute and actually my fastest individual puzzle time ever - 1 hour 50 minutes!
I probably won’t time all my puzzles for this pledge-a-thon, but sometimes it’s fun to zoom through in one sitting 🎉

Here we go! I checked out my first puzzle from the library last night and am excited to get started!
I think this one will go quick. Puzzles that don't have a lot of repeating elements tend to go faster, and it looks like each frame and animal is pretty distinct. Maybe I can do it under 2 hours? We'll see :)
