Wear orange! We will meet at the Main Shelter where you can pick up your tshirt (if you raised $50) and get settled. The 81 minute timer will begin at 11:30am and you'll be on your own to time yourself for 81 minutes (or however long you’re able).

Led by a Survivor. United for a Cure.

Lindsay knows firsthand what a kidney cancer diagnosis means—the fear, the uncertainty, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward. Her journey is why this event is so personal.

When Lindsay realized there wasn’t a kidney cancer event for Oregonians, she set out to change that. What started as a dream became a reality just one year later. In just two years, that dream has grown into an incredible community effort, raising more than $72,000 for kidney cancer research and awareness.

Every step taken on April 12 honors patients like Lindsay and fuels the research that gives families hope for tomorrow. When we show up, we remind patients, especially those here in Oregon, that they are not alone. 🧡

FAQs
How do I sign up to attend?
Click the “Join the Challenge” button (on the right on your computer or at the top on your phone). You’ll be prompted to create a personal page to complete registration.

Do I have to create a personal page?
Yes, that’s the system’s way of tracking attendance. You don’t have to actively fundraise unless you’d like to. Simply complete your sign-up. If you choose to share your page, you may inspire others to give!

Is there a sponsor match this year?
Yes! AVEO Oncology company is currently matching all donations, doubling your impact.

How much do I need to raise to receive a T-shirt?
A $50 donation qualifies you for a shirt — or effectively $25 with the current sponsor match.

Where can I donate if I can’t attend?
If you’re unable to join us in person, you can still support the cause on this page or by donating to a participant.

Should I choose a specific funding source?

When prompted, Lindsay would encourage you to choose "Chromophobe Research." Chromophobe is her rare subtype (only 5% of all kidney cancers are chromophobe) and due to its rarity, there isn't much research being done and the only treatment option at this time is surgery. Any help toward researching Chromophobe is very much appreciated! Otherwise,  consider selecting “Research.” With significant funding losses in kidney cancer research, your donation directly supports critical scientific advancement for all kidney cancers.

How can I help spread the word? THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!

📣 Share the event with family and friends
📱 Post about it on social media
🤝 Invite someone who may not yet have a connection to kidney cancer

The more people who come, the more awareness and hope we create.

Sponsors: OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Bittner and Flann Dentistry for Kids, Lauri Alexander with State Farm (and more coming soon!)

About the 81,000 Challenge:

Almost 81,000 people will be diagnosed with kidney cancer this year. Together, we can support kidney cancer research that changes lives. The Kidney Cancer Association challenges YOU to take part in the Challenge in honor of those fighting kidney cancer and in pursuit of a cure. The Challenge kicks off in March during Kidney Cancer Awareness Month and concludes on June 18, World Kidney Cancer Day. Participants set a goal based on what they love—ride 8.1 miles, run for 81 minutes, or spend 81 minutes meditating. With a little creativity, there are no limits. Every action and every dollar raised helps move research forward.
