Surviving cancer was only part of the journey. I also needed to rediscover my strength, confidence, and sense of adventure and to remember that life could still be big, wild, and full of possibility.

In 2025, I became a Project Athena Zeus and joined an incredible group of survivors for a multi-day adventure kayaking and cycling through the Florida Keys. It reminded me of what my body could do, what joy felt like, and how much life was still waiting for me.

Project Athena is an incredible nonprofit that helps survivors of medical or traumatic setbacks live out an adventurous dream as part of their recovery. Each Athena and Zeus (survivors) is gifted a fully funded, multi-day expedition through the financial support of Gods and Goddesses (fundraisers like me).

Now, I’m taking on my next adventure: the Zion Traverse in August 2027, hiking approximately 45 miles across Zion National Park. And I want to help make these life-changing experiences possible for more survivors.
