Every donation is an entry that brings Oliver one step closer to his own adaptive bike.

Diagnosis: Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) and Autism
Age: 7 years old
Story: Oliver is a sweet, loving, and adventurous 7-year-old who brings joy to everyone around him. He loves being included in all of his family’s activities, especially spending time outdoors. Like many children his age, Oliver dreams of riding bikes with his family and experiencing the freedom, fun, and excitement that comes with it.

Because Oliver has Down syndrome and autism, a traditional bike is not currently a safe option for him. He has also outgrown the ride-on trailers and adaptive attachments that once allowed him to participate in family bike rides. As he grows, it has become increasingly difficult to find safe ways for him to continue enjoying an activity his family loves so much.

Watching from the sidelines has been heartbreaking for both Oliver and his parents. Every time he sees bikes, he lights up with excitement and wants to join in with the rest of the family. Because Oliver is nonverbal, it can be especially difficult for him to understand why he cannot ride the same way others do, often leading to frustration and sadness. More than anything, his family wants him to feel included, capable, and able to share in the same experiences as other children.

An adaptive bike would give Oliver the opportunity to safely ride alongside his family while helping improve his balance, coordination, strength, and confidence. Most importantly, it would allow him to fully participate in meaningful family moments instead of feeling left behind. This bike would provide Oliver with the joy, freedom, and inclusion every child deserves while helping his family create lasting memories together.
