C4 Run/Walk to Defeat Colorectal Cancer

C4 is offering three distances for which you are welcome to participate as either a walker or runner: 1 mile (untimed), 5k or 10k timed option starting and finishing at Toomey Field - UCD. We also are bringing in a lot of regional partners who are motivated to make sure all attendees know what is important about both colorectal cancer and how best to understand both risks and symptoms that might warrant conversations with your health care providers.

The California Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C4) is a nonprofit organization made up of a diverse group of dedicated individuals from throughout California whose mission is to save lives and reduce suffering from colorectal cancer in all Californians.

Funds raised through the “Screen Your Gut - Save Your Butt” will be used for the C4 Community Grants Program that aims to increase screening to prevent colorectal cancer development and detect existing cancers earlier when the outcomes are more favorable for patients. All net proceeds go towards our community grants program in existence since 2013 that has been funding improvements in clinic efforts throughout the state, often in locations where patients have more limited access to services. We also provide expertise on systems improvement, setting medical standards, and engaging with health plans to reduce financial burdens for patients needing to be screened.

Information About Starting a Team

If you are planning on forming a team to participate, follow these steps:

  • The Team Captain needs to mark "Fundraiser" rather than "Ticket" - this doesn't change the registration other than allow you to set up a team page. Then when new people register who want to join your team, they can select your team and either register as a fundraiser or just ticket. The amounts are system-level suggestions and the cost is the same to register for the event no matter which option you choose.

  • When registering, each completed registration (you can register one or many people all at the same time) is linked to a specific email address so you have to use a new email if you try to add more people at a different time.

1) Click on Registration

2) Select the race you want to enter

3) Enter the requested information and Add Ticket

4) The system will then ask you whether you want to join an existing team, register as an individual, or form your own team.

5) You then have the option of just completing the registration or adding additional team members. Each registration is added to your cart to pay. Once you complete the payment, you will receive an email confirmation.

Daily Check-in: Top Team (#, $$ Raised), Individual Fundraiser, Largest FQHC

Wow! Everyone is doing an amazing job this year with teams and fundraising. For each $15,000 raised (after event expenses) will fund a Federally Qualified Health System for a year to improve access to screening and CRC care for their patients. Let's keep on helping them make sure all patients have equal access to quality care.

Reminder that ONLINE REGISTRATION closes tomorrow at NOON. After that, we would still love to have you join us but you will need to register in person. Onsite registration can be done with cash, check, or credit card payment into Stripe (we have the card readers).

Top stats at the moment (1pm, Friday) - we will try to spread the wealth, as only prize per team/individual will be given out.

Largest Team: CalPERS - 20 members

Team Raising the Most Donations: Screen Your Booty ($1303)

Individual Raising the Most Donations: Joanne Wellman - $1,108

If there are overlapping high points, we will go down the line until the next person.

We will try to update this daily until race day!
