Support CDSD Cheerleading

Central Dauphin School District Cheerleaders are partnering with Huddle for Hearts to raise awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). CDSD Cheer is fundraising for an AED in the gym that is shared with the youth cheer program, as well as Central Dauphin and Central Dauphin East cheerleaders. The teams practice year-round to prepare not only for the cheer season, but also for competitions held locally and in Orlando, Florida, at the National High School Cheerleading Championships in February.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the #1 killer of student athletes in our country. Every hour, every day, we lose a child to SCA. Oftentimes, the first sign or symptom of a hidden heart issue…is sudden death. According to Parent Heart Watch, “Most occurrences of SCA in youth occur in public places. The increased availability of publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in schools and school-sponsored athletic events will dramatically increase the probability that youth will survive SCA.”
