Dink-A-Thon Kalamazoo
Use your pickleball skills to create change in our local Kalamazoo community! Join us for a day of fun and hit as many dinks as you can in a day to help us raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo! The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo serves over 1,000 members per year, providing meals, programming, family and basic needs support, tutoring, and much more to youth in the Kalamazoo community. The $25,000 raised will help support the mission of the Boys & Girls Club and continue providing high quality youth development for all youth in the Kalamazoo area!
How Dink-A-Thon Works
The Dink-A-Thon is an achievement based fundraiser where participants raise as many dollars as they can for the Boys & Girls Club. Fundraising will happen from the time you register to the day of the event, July 13th. Fundraising happens in 2 ways:
1. Per Dink Donation- Participants will hit as many dinks as they can during the Dink-A-Thon event, and individuals sponsoring that participant will commit to donating a certain amount per dink they hit. A dink is a soft, tactical shot near the net- a crucial shot in the game! For example, if I am sponsoring Joe Pickleball for 10 cents per dink and he hits 500 dinks, I will end up donating $50. On average, a player will hit around 200-300 dinks in 15 minutes, varying by skill level. This is the most popular and fun way to sponsor a player!
2. Flat Donation- Individuals can sponsor a participant with a flat donation not based on dinks hit. For example, if I wanted to sponsor Joe Pickleball but don't want to tie it to the amount of dinks he hits, I can donate $50.00 as a flat donation.

Tutoring
The Boys & Girls Club provides participants with 1-on-1 literacy tutoring to ensure reading will never be a barrier in their lives! It costs around $2500 per child to provide this service for a year.
