Zach Stackhouse

I rowed for ND as a member of the class of 2012 and served as an assistant coach and the freshman coach from 2015 through 2018 during my time in law school.

This endowment is important if funded and utilized the right way. I understand what it takes to have success on the water in the short term—we did in in the late 00s and early 10s through sheer grit to be better. We went to elite camps and national team camps to learn how to get faster. We recruited. But as an athlete and then even more as a coach, I saw the institutional support, the logistics, and structures that the team lacks to sustain that success over the long term. A coaching endowment is a critical piece of that. Moreover to my mind, this effort can serve as the basis of leverage with the university, to create a support system around the athletes to sustain and build success for the long term.
