Our Mission
Welcome to our Houston Buddy Walk® team fundraising page! Xerxes & company is participating to show our support for Xerxes and more than 400,000 other individuals with Down syndrome in the U.S. Every dollar we raise brings us one step closer to ensuring that our child and every individual will have the opportunity to reach their potential. To know Xerxes is to love him. He is my literal sour patch kid. He is 8 years old, He is number 7 out of 8. He was the youngest for 6 years, but takes his current role of big brother very seriously. I truly believe Xerxes has thrived tremendously living in such a big family. I began advocating for Xerxes in order to teach his family more about life with Down Syndrome. It is definitely not for the weak and sometimes I question my own ability to properly teach others about Xerxes but I know I cannot ever quit! He is constantly teaching me to live my life in a very different way than i was before he joined the family. Though I try my very hardest not to put limits on him because of his diagnosis. By joining our team and getting to know Xerxes you are helping spread awareness about down syndrome and how having extra DNA doesnt mean its the end of the world, consider it like taking the scenic route instead of the short cut in life.
Our fundraising efforts will support local programs and services for the Down Syndrome Association of Houston, as well as National Down Syndrome Society advocacy and public awareness initiatives that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.
Make your tax-deductible donation today and take the first step toward helping us achieve our goal. Thank you for your support!

At the Down Syndrome Association of Houston (DSAH), our mission is to provide health, education and advocacy resources to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and their communities. We envision a world in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations, and become accepted as a wonderfully normal part of a very diverse community.
DSAH currently serves over 3,500 families and we are proud to say our membership continues to grow. Of course, we couldn’t celebrate the growth and inclusion without YOU! We hope you can support our Houston Buddy Walk so we can continue to make strides for people with DS!
