Why donate?
Hi my name is Lisette,
My mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer stage 3 when she was 53. She fought it and beat it. My grandmother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at age 72, fought it and beat it. Later on in life, she had difficulties swallowing her food, come to find out she had stage 4 esophageal cancer and did not make it. 6 1/2 years later after my mother had cancer I received a phone call while hiking and I was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks after my 37th birthday and later was told stage 2. I had to receive chemo and radiation, I had surgeries and had a port inserted on the right side near my chest. I had every bad symptom that there is from the treatment. My mother could not understand why if she was stage 3 and I was stage 2 that my symptoms were worse then hers. The doctors kept saying everyone is different.
For many years, I wanted to do something for Cancer Awareness and I have given free hair cuts, facial shaves and eyebrow shaping to people. I was given the idea to start a fundraising page to raise money to donate if I am giving free hair cuts. Many people who are diagnosed with cancer get rejected from temporary help as I was denied food stamps and temporary disability but thankfully for me, that is when I found Swim Across the Sound. They help with things that other programs don't. Lucky I lived with my mom and she took care of my 2 kids and me while I was sick. Here I am wanting to raise money for those who need it in the city I live in and I chose to donate to the hospital where I am still being treated with the aftermath of cancer. All proceeds will go to St. Vincent Medical Center's Swim Across the Sound programs located in Bridgeport, CT. They try to get you the help they can as they tried for me and also I hope this will help others once the money is donated to them. Please help me for October Breast Cancer Awareness to raise money for cancer patients. All proceeds will be donated.
Last year, with your help, we were able to raise $10,000 for Swim Across the Sound programs. Will you help me make an even bigger impact this year? Help me reach my goal, any donation counts, there’s no such thing as too little or too big.
Thank you,
Liz
