Fountain Valley School District Goes Gold 2026
FVSD Goes Gold for International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day 2026!
Fountain Valley School District is partnering with local families to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research. On February 12, 2026, please join the entire FVSD Family by participating in International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day by wearing gold/yellow, donating to PCRF, and spreading awareness for this cause! *International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day is February 15th every year, due to it falling on a weekend, FVSD will observe this date on Thursday February 12, 2026 this year.
Did you know...
Approximately 13,000 children a year in the U.S. hear the words, “You have cancer.”
The average age of children diagnosed is six.
Pediatric cancer research receives less than 4% of national funding for cancer research, annually.
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 19 in the U.S.
More than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year.
FVSD kindly asks everyone to wear yellow or gold to school on February 12th to show your support for the students and families who have experienced the damaging impact of childhood cancer. In addition, we hope that everyone in the FVSD community will consider donating $1 to combat this disease through the support of childhood cancer research. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Irvine-based Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.
On February 12th, we encourage everyone to wear gold and donate $1 in support of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation in honor of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day.
We look forward to all of our FVSD Family Going Gold with us on February 12th, 2026!
Your donation helps fuel research, care, and real hope for kids and families facing pediatric cancer. The process is fast, easy, and secure—and every gift moves us closer to a world without pediatric cancer.
