Nolan’s Story: Fighting for a Future with Every Mile

On March 1, 2021, our world changed forever.

That day, Nolan was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, Sonic Hedgehog, a rare and aggressive pediatric brain cancer. Soon after, we learned he also has Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, a genetic condition that significantly increases cancer risk and complicates treatment decisions. From the very beginning, Nolan’s fight has been complex, relentless, and brave beyond words.

Since diagnosis, Nolan has faced more than any child ever should. He endured years of intense treatments, hospital stays, scans, and setbacks—each one demanding courage, resilience, and strength no child should be asked to summon. Because of his genetic condition, every treatment came with added risks, forcing his medical team to carefully balance lifesaving therapy with long-term safety.

On October 7, 2025, Nolan completed one of the most difficult chapters of his journey: a harsh course of full brain and spine radiation. This treatment was essential—but grueling. It tested his body, his spirit, and our family in ways we never imagined. Yet Nolan showed us what true bravery looks like, day after day.

Then came a moment we once only dared to hope for.

On February 2, 2026, Nolan was officially classified in Survivorship.

Survivorship does not mean the fight is over. Nolan will continue to be closely monitored for the rest of his life. He will face long-term effects, ongoing scans, and the ever-present risks that come with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. But survivorship does mean hope. It means research worked. It means the treatments developed through pediatric cancer research saved our son’s life.

And that is why Pelotonia matters.

The Pelotonia Kids accelerates lifesaving research that gives children like Nolan a chance not just to survive—but to grow, dream, and live fuller lives. Every breakthrough, every clinical trial, every safer treatment exists because people chose to ride, donate, and believe in a future where no child has cancer.

We ride and fundraise for Nolan. We fundraise for safer treatments. We fundraise for cures. We fundraise so families like ours hear the word survivorship instead of goodbye.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Nolan and with every child still fighting. Your support is not just a donation—it is a lifeline.

Together, we can outpace cancer.

Update March 9, 2026:

Despite all our efforts, Nolan’s scans on March 2nd showed significant progression of his diagnosis. Because of the speed and aggressiveness of the disease, there are no longer treatment options available. Nolan has now entered comfort care, and we are taking each day he has with us as a precious gift.

While Nolan’s story may be nearing its end, our fight to end cancer is not. His strength, his love, and his spirit continue to inspire us to keep pushing for better treatments, better outcomes, and a future where no family has to face this.

Thank you for the continued love, support, and kindness you’ve shown Nolan and our family. It means more than words can express.

Update May 14th:

Nolan passed on May 12th after a courageous fight with his disease. The battle may be lost, but the fight is far from over — because his story continues in every effort to find a cure for cancer. Nolan’s strength, love, and determination now fuel a mission bigger than any one moment. His legacy lives on in the work still being done, the awareness still being raised, and the hope that one day no family will face this disease again.
