Since 1968, when Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded this movement of sports and inclusion, Mississippi has been there. Now with more than 6,000 Special Olympics Mississippi athletes, we have continued to lead the charge for fair treatment, inclusion, and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities. Our athletes and their families have been breaking down barriers, both on and off the field, through the power of sport right here in our state.

We’re asking you to join fellow Mississippians in celebrating and supporting YOUR Special Olympics athletes. Our 2025 GOLD Gala will be held at Duling Hall in Jackson, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. We’re inviting you to attend and meet some of these fantastic athletes and hear what Special Olympics Mississippi means to them.

This year, we are pleased to honor Donna Sims and Rita Martinson. These champions of Special Olympics Mississippi served on our board for more than 25 years, raising awareness for the movement and our athletes across our state.
