Santa Run 5K & 1 Mile Walk

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the return of the Santa Run 5K and 1 Mile Walk. This was an outstanding community event for a few years that has been on hiatus for a long time, but we have brought it back and in exciting news, Bishop McDevitt, through this event, will be collecting and donating Christmas wish list items to the Child Life department at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.

The Child Life Program promotes the positive development of children, teens and families by providing age-appropriate programming to build coping skills and reduce emotional distress. The Penn State Health Children's Hospital serves children from newborn to age 18, and each age group has their own unique needs while they are hospitalized. An online wish list registry and a more extensive wish list overview are published on their website and can be found above. We encourage our entire community, whether you are participating in the race or just want to support the Children’s Hospital, to please bring one or a few items on the wish list on race day so that we can fill our pickup truck with donations!

The Santa Run will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at Bishop McDevitt High School inside of Rocco Ortenzio Stadium. Donations to the Child Life wish list are not required for participation, but are greatly encouraged! The money collected in registration fees will go towards covering the cost of the event and the profit will be going to our Little Flower Scholarship Fund. Coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts will be provided on race day, and each registered participant will receive a Santa hat to run in. Prize drawings will also be awarded to a few lucky participants after the race.
