39th Annual Swim Across the Sound

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to recent damage sustained at Danfords Marina in Port Jefferson, we have had to adjust our traditional route. To ensure a seamless and safe experience for all participants and volunteers, we are moving the entire event to the Connecticut side of the Sound this year.

While the course will look a little different, we are excited to maintain the full schedule of events you look forward to each year.

We are working hard to finalize the specific course details, and we will share those updates with you as soon as they are available. We truly appreciate your flexibility and your continued dedication to the Swim Across the Sound and the patients we serve.

HISTORY OF THE SWIM: Thirty-eight years ago, five Boston College graduates swam across Long Island Sound, raising $5,000 to help cancer patients. From that single, focused mission, a powerful movement has emerged that now raises hundreds of thousands annually.

These funds provide a vital safety net for cancer patients and families throughout the Fairfield Region—covering essential living expenses like rent and transportation to treatment, while also providing no-cost cancer education, screenings, and support groups regardless of where patients receive care.

Swimmers are the backbone of this event. They help us raise critical funds that allow us to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families in our region.

Supporting Cancer Patients in Our Community

Your support of Hartford HealthCare's Swim Across the Sound enables us to offer programs and support to oncology patients undergoing treatment in the Bridgeport and Fairfield Region, regardless of where they receive treatment.

Each year, swimmers come out to Hartford HealthCare's Swim Across the Sound and challenge themselves to complete 15.5 miles in the Long Island Sound all to raise money for a good cause.

We thank you for your support!
