One of our goals in this year's competition is to raise funds for cancer research in honor of the memory of one of our founding members who passed away last year from colon cancer.
100% of money raised will go directly to California Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C4).
C4 believes everyone deserves a life free from the burden of colorectal cancer. C4 is committed to ensuring that all Californians have the awareness, education, and access needed to prevent, detect, and treat this disease.
Two of the ways your gift will help: Giving grants to Health Care Centers (FQHC) in California for full spectrum colorectal cancer care and spreading awareness and community building by hosting annual 5K runs in San Diego and, newly this year, a NorCal race. Each year Spinners participates in the International Back-to-Back, a competition to promote wool and the crafts of knitting and spinning. We hand-shear a sheep, spin the yarn and knit a sweater in one day, as fast as possible.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 16 at Liberty Station in conjunction with the San Diego Craft Collective’s Fiber Fest 2026.
It’s a fun opportunity for the whole family to see this process in action, and learn about sheep, spinning and knitting from individuals who enjoy the hobby.
There will be vendors selling yarn, roving (for spinning), baskets, wool products, and paintings. Also on hand will be live alpacas to feed and pet. Other non-profit organizations and guilds will have booths demonstrating their crafts.
Thank you for giving what you can.
