20th Anniversary Buddy Walk

On Saturday, October 29th, Manasota BUDS will host its 20th Annual Buddy Walk at Grace Community Church in Sarasota, FL. This family-friendly event is sure to be the happiest place on earth! There will be free activities for kids, carnival games with prizes, a 50/50 raffle, Silent Auction, live music, food trucks and so much more!

Back by popular demand, trophies and prizes will be awarded for teams with the Most Members and the Top Fundraisers. Show your support to the local Down syndrome community by donating, joining a team, or sponsoring our event!

The Buddy Walk was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society. Each October, the Buddy Walk serves as the primary fundraiser and Down syndrome awareness event for Manasota BUDS. All donations received from this event help to support our programs, services and scholarships offered each year. Through generous donors and sponsors like you, we serve over 250 families across the Florida Gulf Coast.

Provide a Manasota BUDS member with a therapeutic horseback riding lesson, or a swim or music therapy session.


Register For the Buddy Walk in 3 Steps

1. Sign Up

Click on the "Register" button above to get started. Click "Create a Team" if you're starting from scratch. You will create your personal page and/or team page during the registration process, and you can update it any time through your login.

Once your team is created, others may join it by clicking the "Register" button, then "Join a Team" and choosing the team from the list. From there, team members can create their individual fundraising profiles and goals, which will roll-up to the team level.

Note: if you are enrolling multiple people, each unique registration will require a unique email address. We know this is an inconvenience, and our vendor is working on improving this for our events in the future.

2. Create Your Online Fundraising Page

After you register, customize your personal fundraising page by editing default text, uploading personalized pictures and changing the colors of your page. All edits can be completed by clicking the "Edit Page" link on your person or team page. You can make changes to your page as many times as you’d like.

3. Spread the Word

Once your personal fundraising page has been set up, you can send emails to your friends and family by clicking "Share" then "Share via Email or Text". The emails will provide a direct link to your personal page where your friends and family can make a donation on your behalf. We've even written some sample emails to help get you started! Unfortunately, Social Sharing is limited. Facebook, as an example, suppresses external fundraiser links, because Facebook doesn't get a cut of those donations.

Virtual Walkers

If you are unable to be in Sarasota for the Buddy Walk on 10/29/2022, you can register as a virtual walker. Simply click "Register" and choose to join a team as a Virtual Walker. Or, you can simply make a charitable donation to help support Manasota BUDS by clicking on the "Donate" button.
