Building Bridges in Tompkins County
Are you ready to embark on an extraordinary journey with a historical twist? Join the Traverse Tompkins challenge to explore Tompkins County and support the preservation of our shared past at The History Center in Tompkins County.
Traverse Tompkins is a a 24-hour cycling and running event to benefit The History Center. Gather friends and family to cheer you on as you traverse as many miles in our community in a 24-hour period. Every mile counts - whether its a 2 mile walk, a half-marathon run, or a century cycling ride! This year we're Building Bridges and learning about the hundreds of bridges that criss-cross Tompkins County. Build your own run or ride to visit as many bridges as possible. We've got a starter map of just some of our bridges - but we're excited for everyone to share more bridges while on your own challenge.
Here's How It Works!
There are two ways to participate and join the effort to keep our history alive.
Option 1: Sign up for free and commit to asking your community for pledges to support your travels. Fueled by your obvious love for history and Tompkins County, reach out to your friends, family, and colleagues to pledge their support for your challenge. Their pledge - of any amount - gets calculated after you complete your mileage.
Option 2: Buy an entry ticket! Asking for pledges isn't for everyone, but Traverse Tompkins should be. Your ticket price goes directly towards supporting The History Center's mission, and you still get to explore the bridges of Tompkins County!
