Moving for Mya

When our daughter, Mya, was born, we unexpectedly learned she has Down syndrome. Like many new parents receiving that news, we experienced every emotion imaginable. We had so many questions about what her future would look like and what opportunities would be available to her.

What we didn't know then was that we were about to become part of one of the most welcoming, supportive, and inspiring communities we could have ever imagined.

The Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh has connected us with resources, friendships, and families who truly understand our journey. They've shown us that our daughter has every opportunity to live a full, joyful, and meaningful life.

This year, we're walking to celebrate Mya and every incredible individual with Down syndrome. We're also walking to help ensure that other families receive the same support, encouragement, and sense of community that we've been so grateful to experience.

As owners of Magic Moment Bridal Studio, we've been blessed to create special moments for so many brides over the years. This year, we were honored to host our very first Beautifully Me Bridal Showcase, celebrating adults with Down syndrome as they stepped into wedding gowns and confidently walked the runway. Watching those smiles, that confidence, and the overwhelming love from our community reminded us exactly why organizations like the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh matter.

Every donation helps provide programs, advocacy, education, and opportunities that empower individuals with Down syndrome and support their families every step of the way.
