ABOUT THE BIRDING:
Experienced bird guide Jeff Manker will lead you and 7 of your friends through upland and coastal sites in Pacific Grove, Point Lobos, Carmel Valley and 17 mile Drive.  Upland sightings will likely include warblers, nuthatches, vireos, woodpeckers, and raptors. Along the coast, you'll find numerous gulls, shorebirds, some alcids, migrating waterfowl, loons, and if the wind is right, shearwaters, albatross, and other tubenoses. 

ABOUT CARMEL HIGHLANDS INN:
The winner (plus one) will enjoy three weeknights at a one-bedroom condo at the gorgeous Carmel Highlands Inn perched on the cliff above the Pacific.   

Smell the fresh ocean breeze from your balcony, listen to the crackling sounds of the wood-burning fireplace, stretch out in the extra-large marble tub and sleep like royalty in your plush bed. You’ll appreciate the large living space with deluxe sofa, separate vanity space, and fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and dining area. 

The Monterey Peninsula boasts over 350 recorded species. October and November bring the greatest variety, when birds are streaming south around the Peninsula and surprising vagrants show up in the trees near the point. But no matter what time of year you go, this stunning coastline will provide birds aplenty to catch your interest.

Winner (and friends) are responsible for providing their own transportation while birding with Jeff; the group can decide whether to stop for lunch at a restaurant or bring their own picnic lunches.
