Item description
Central Park is one of the premier birding spots in the United States. Explore it with one of New York's top local birders, Tod Winston, while staying at a Hilton that gives you easy access to the city's natural and cultural gems.
About Central Park:
As the biggest natural area in Manhattan, the park is an essential stop for spring and fall migrants seeking rest and food for the next leg of their journey. On a single “wave” or “fallout” day, as many as 30 warbler species may be seen, establishing the park as one of the most famous warbler traps in North America. More than 280 bird species have been recorded here; 192 are regular visitors or year-round residents and over 88 are infrequent or rare visitors.
About Tod Winston:
Tod Winston wears several NYC Bird Alliance hats. In his role as Urban Biodiversity Specialist, Tod conducts bird surveys at several high-profile green spaces across the city including Madison Square Park and the Javits Center green roof. As one of NYC Bird Alliance's birding guides, he teaches the NYC Bird Alliance's Beginning Birding course and leads walks and trips around the city including the popular spring Birding by Ear series.
About the NYC Hilton Midtown:
You'll be staying for three nights at the NY Hilton Midtown—six blocks from the southern end of Central Park and a two-minute walk to the Museum of Modern Art. It's just one block from luxury shopping along Fifth Avenue and a short walk to Broadway theatres and dining.
*** We recommend that you arrange your outing with Tod IMMEDIATELY because of his very busy schedule. If for some reason you cannot find a date that meets both your schedules, NYC Bird Alliance can arrange an equally wonderful substitute guide. Arrange the Hilton stay with Marjorie Powell as soon as you have the bird guide date. (We will send their contact info to the winning bidder.)
GGBA member Marjorie Powell has donated the Hilton Hotel stay and Tod Winston has donated his time and expertise.
