You'll come home after your busy London days to a safe, quiet residential neighborhood about seven minutes' walk from the Arsenal tube station (Piccadilly line, direct route to Heathrow). Several restaurants and cafes are in a very short walking distance and many more shops and eating establishments can be found in Islington’s Upper Street or Stoke Newington Church Street via a longer walk or short bus trip.  

For greenery and urban birding (and if your timing is right, autumn colors), nearby Clissold and Gillespie Parks are both less than ten-minute walks. For spooky Victorian atmosphere, the 30-minute walk to Abney Park Cemetery is well worth it.  Last but not least, Woodberry Wetlands (about a 30-minute walk or easy public transportation) can provide even more British birds for your list!
