Event Day Schedule - Saturday, October 3rd

Beginning at 2pm: Arrival
Free parking is available at the SOMI building. Look for the Step Up signs pointing you towards parking, located on the East and West sides of the building.

On-site registration is available for $10. Please use Venmo @DSAWM or pre-register at https://charity.pledgeit.org/dsawmstepup.

Please note that if you purchased a shirt or earned incentives, you may pick those up at the DSAWM Swag Table.

2pm: Event Starts!

All activities will be open throughout the duration of the event from 2-5pm.

3pm: Announcements and Solidarity Walk
The announcements begin on stage at 3pm and will immediately be followed by a solidarity walk on the Special Olympics Track (starting around 3:15pm). The Grand Haven High Drumline will lead the walk!

5pm: Event Concludes

Step Up is host to a range of activities for all ages!

  • Carnival games and prizes

  • Resource fair

  • Soft play area for toddlers

  • Live performances

  • Face painting

  • Food trucks

  • And more!

Don't forget to bring sunscreen/hat, jacket, water bottle, card or cash (for the food trucks), and comfortable shoes!

*When you participate in games and visit the resource fair, you will earn BLUE prize tickets that can be redeemed at the PRIZE table.

Other Important Information

The Venue
Step Up will be held outdoors within the Track & Field area of the SOMI Unified Sports & Inclusion Center. Please dress accordingly. While there will be a building for shelter, you are encouraged to wear sunscreen and a hat or sunglasses. You may also want to bring a stroller or wagon for small children or those with limited mobility.

Parking
Free parking is available at the location on either side of the SOMI building on 68th St SW. Look for the Step Up signs pointing you towards parking. Accessible parking is available closer to the event area. We ask that you please reserve these spaces for attendees with accessible parking permits. You are welcome to drop off riders near the entrance if needed.

Restrooms
Accessible bathrooms are available on-site in the back hallway of the SOMI building; please use Door C.

Food & Beverages
Food trucks will be on-site for the duration of the event and accept cash and card payments. Pronto Pups, Los Pinches Tacos, and Kona Ice will be there!

Animals
For the comfort and safety of all attendees, pets are not permitted at the event or anywhere on SOMI Property. Service animals with clear identification are permitted.

Prior to the start of Step Up, the event may be canceled for a tornado watch or warning, thunderstorms, or other severe weather. Cancellations will be announced no later than 11:00am on event day and will be communicated via:
