Donations

Q: What do I do with the cash donations I receive?

A: We recommend that you keep the cash and write a check to Birdies4Brains for the amount of each cash donation you receive. Please include the name of the donor on the memo line. Mail checks to Birdies4Brains, 3432 Denmark Ave. #235, Eagan, MN 55123.

Q: What if my supporter wants to write a donation check?

A: That is totally fine. Please have them address the check to Birdies4Brains and include your name in the memo line. Mail checks to Birdies4Brains, 3432 Denmark Ave. #235, Eagan, MN 55123.

Q: What if my supporter wants to submit a donation from their Donor-Advised Fund?

A: That's great! If the financial company requires any verification of how the funds are utilized, please have them contact Mandy Granley via email (birdies4brains@gmail.com)

Q: Can supporters make a donation through their employer's charitable donation portal so that they can also take advantage of a corporate match?

A: Yes, absolutely! We have accounts with Benevity, NPOConnect/YourCause, CyberGrants, and Pledgeling Hub. If another portal is used, please let Alissa Madden know so that a new account can be created.

A few recommendations:

  1. Encourage supporters to submit donation/employer match requests as early as possible to ensure it arrives before the Top Birdie contest deadline (see below).
  2. Remind your supporters to include your full name (if possible) when submitting their donation/match request so that we know which golfer to attribute the donation to.
  3. Ask your supporters to email you a copy of the donation / corporate match receipt and forward it on to Mandy Granley (birdies4brains@gmail.com).

Q: How are donations I receive via cash, check, donor-advised funds, employee donations/employer matches added to my fundraising page?

A: After Birdies4Brains receives the donations in the mail or via an online charitable portal, Mandy Granley will add it to your fundraising page as an offline donation.

Q: I am worried that the donor-advised fund check or employee donations/corporate matches will not arrive by the Top Birdies Contest deadline. Can those donations be added as offline donations before Birdies4Brains receives them?

A: Yes, with conditions. You must email a copy of the donor-advised fund letter or the receipt for the charitable portal donation/corporate match to Mandy Granley (birdies4brains@gmail.com).

NOTE: Birdies4Brains will not add any pending offline donations early without a receipt or letter.

Q: Can I add my own offline donations?

A: No, PledgeIt does not have the functionality at this time. We recommend emailing Mandy Granley (birdies4brains@gmail.com) to alert her when donations are mailed.

Q: Can I set up a fundraiser to collect my donations for the 100 Holes Event through my personal Instagram or Facebook page?

A: We do not recommend setting up a personal fundraiser on Instagram or Facebook.

If you have already set up a fundraiser on Instagram or Facebook and it has generated some donations, please do the following:

  • Document the donor name, donation amount, and date of donation and email this info to birdies4brains@gmail.com.
  • Please close your fundraiser on Instagram or Facebook so that no additional donations will be processed here.
  • Instead, please add your individual PledgeIt fundraising page link to your bio/profile on Instagram or Facebook. (See the Fundraising Tips tab for screenshots with step-by-step instructions.)

We will monitor our electronic payments to our checking account and will manually add these as "offline donations" to your fundraising page once payment is received.

Top Birdie Contest

Q: How does the Top Birdie Contest work?

A: The five golfers who raise the most money by the deadline are recognized as Top Birdie winners.

Note: Brian Eder does not include his donation total in the contest.

Q: What is the deadline that donations must be submitted by in order to count and be included in the Top Birdie Contest?

A: The deadline is 11:59 PM CST on June 30, 2024. This allows golfers an additional 6 days for donations to arrive from their supporters via their online fundraising link, by mail, or an online charitable portal.

Q: When are the Top 5 Birdies announced?

A: Golfers will receive an email by the end of the day on July 1, 2024. Time is needed to account for any pending offline donation requests with proof of receipt that were emailed to Mandy Granley by the 11:59 PM CST deadline on June 30, 2024.

Q: What if donations arrive on my behalf after the deadline? Does this change the Top Birdie results?

A: The short answer is no. The Top 5 Birdies will remain intact once announced on 7/1/2024 to ensure a clear set of winners.

However, we will consider adjusting the ordering of the Top 5 Birdies only under the following conditions:

  • If a Top Birdie's supporter submitted an employee donation/employer match donation/donor-advised fund donation check that was either electronically time-stamped or post-marked before the deadline, these donations will be included in the Top Birdie's total.
  • If the additional donations to the Top Birdie's total fundraising results in a larger dollar amount that exceeds one or more of the other Top Birdies winners, the ranking will be adjusted to reflect the new ranking.

Q: If the Top Birdies rankings change as noted in the example above, how will this be communicated?

A: All participants will receive an email celebrating this news. Birdies4Brains will also share any changed results on social media and update any website content accordingly.

Q: Can I roll over any donations that were submitted after the deadline to next year's 100 Hole event?

A: No, the donations you solicit for this year's 100 Holes Event will not roll over to next year's fundraising campaign. This ensures a fair and equitable starting point for each participant each year.

We will update participants when this year's campaign page is closed.

Once the campaign page is closed, the donation link on our website will be changed to allow for general donations to Birdies4Brains.

NOTE: For those who are eager to get a head start on fundraising for next year, we are considering immediately launching a new campaign page for golfers to register once this year's 100 Holes event and campaign page close. Stay tuned.
