FAQ's

What is the timeline for the event?*

RACE DAY TIMELINE *

6:00 AM – Booth Set Up Begins

7:00 AM - Sign-ups New Registration/Bib Pick up for 5K/1K

* (early bib pickup is available on Friday from 3:30 to 6:00 pm at the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce Offices)

7:30 AM – Early morning welcome / DJ

7:30 AM - LMU Street Closure – No Car Access through LMU (Drollinger Lot Closed; no entering/exiting during the race from 8 and 9 am/Park at U-Hall)

7:45 AM – All Booths Should be Set up

7:50 AM - Warm Up with SoCalSports

8:00 AM – Opening Ceremony

8:10 AM – 5K Launches

Live Music with SooperAwesome

9:15 AM - Welcome / Thank Yous

9:50 AM – 1 K Kids’ Run Warm Up

When can I pick up my race bib?

Friday, March 1 between 3:30 and 6:00 pm , bib pickup will be available at the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce offices located at 9100 S. Sepulveda Blvd. #210, Los Angeles, CA 90045. When you pick up your bib. Bib pick-up will also take place from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on race day at LMU.

Where do we park?

Parking is free; we recommend parking in the Drollinger Parking Lot, which is closest to the event. If driving, please arrive at LMU by 7:20 am due to street closures for the race. After 7:30 am, you will be unable to park at the LMU Drollinger lot. Alternative parking will be located at University Hall P2/P3 (it will take about 10-15 min. to walk uphill to the event). You must enter LMU through Lincoln, and signs will direct you up the hill to parking.

Can people sign up on race day?

Yes, people can register up to the day of the event . We will allow signups until all of our bibs run out.

Are bikes/scooters allowed?

Please leave bikes, scooters, wheelies, roller skates etc. at home as they will not be allowed on the course.

Is this event pet-friendly?

While we love our four-legged friends, pets are not allowed on campus.

Will there be food?

Many of our vendors will be passing out snacks, protein bars, coffee, and other snacks starting at 8 a.m. There will also be a free pancake breakfast hosted by the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club (while food lasts).

Are costumes allowed?

Sure! Feel free to get creative if you'd like to run in a costume that's rock & roll-themed! Most of our runners like to show their school spirit by wearing their school's T-shirts, sweatshirts, and headbands!

When do the prices for the 5K & 1K go up and if so, by how much and by which date?

Prices will go up by $5 on Saturday, February 24 in all categories except Virtual Runner.

Are strollers allowed in the various races?

Yes, strollers will be allowed in the 5K & 1K at a staggered start – behind the runners. In the 1K we ask that the strollers start in the last wave of runners (we will have at least three starts for the 1K – based on age).

Can schools get their own booths?

Schools can purchase a booth ($500). The money from booth sales will be treated like an event sponsor and will NOT go back to the schools, except in the form of grants.

What if it rains?

The event will happen rain or shine.

Can I run with my child in the 1K race?

Yes. If you have a bib from the 5K race, please keep it on for the 1K race. If you do not have a bib, you will need to sign a liability waiver at the race. We will have a table set up near the start of the race to sign the forms. You will then be given a sticker to wear on your shirt. Any parents who would like to run with their kids will be asked to line up in the last wave of 1K runners.

How does the 1K work?

The 1K will be split into four separate waves:

First Wave: Kids ages 9 and above

Second Wave: Kids ages 8-7

Third Wave: Kids ages 6-5

Fourth Wave: Kids ages 5 and under, and/or anyone with a parent

The waves will be launched in about thirty-second increments. The wave categories are recommendations and each parent is responsible for selecting the preferred wave for their runner.

Is there a bag check?

No. Unfortunately, we don’t have any areas to check bags.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Your registration is non-refundable and race proceeds will benefit local schools.

Will there be photos from the event?

Yes. Zsuzsi Photography will be taking photos of the event. The HomeTown News will publish photos in their April edition as an event recap and will also be available online.

Will there be a discount online if you sign up multiple runners?

Unfortunately, our new site does not allow us to offer a discount with multiple runners.
