As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, AZRD cancelled its 2020 Cactus Cup tournament, lost its practice venue, and had many skaters retired from the sport. 2022 marked the return of AZRD and its annual Cactus Cup annual tournament at a new sports facility in Mesa. AZRD is able to sporadically host events at Arizona Athletic Grounds, but continues to work to secure a permanent home that is centrally located.
