The concept that became Marengo Ridge started in 1963 when Harry Witek, his two sons Bob and Jerry, and brother-in-law Hillard Lewand engaged architect William James Spear to design and build a nine-hole golf course cut through the wooded hills between U.S. Route 20 and Harmony Hill Rd. A large, working cow barn was renovated and became the center of the club activity.
