Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is Step Forward an event or a fundraiser?
A: Both! Step Forward is PFWPA’s annual in-person fundraising event happening on Saturday, September 27th. We will be celebrating the money raised ahead of the event and will award the top individual and team fundraisers. Fundraising occurs ahead of the event and the event itself is an in-person celebration of everyone’s efforts.
Q: Can I just attend and not fundraise?
A: Yes! You can register ($35/adult, $5/child) to just attend the in-person event on Saturday, September 27th OR you can register and attend. We encourage the latter.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: In the past you could bring Fido along, but the venue policy has changed. Unless your pup is a service animal, you'll need to keep them at home.
Q: Will there be ample parking?
A: Yes! There are plenty of parking spaces at the venue. If someone in your party has a mobility issue and would prefer to be dropped off, there is a roundabout drop off you can use and volunteers can assist getting your loved ones in and out of the vehicle then you can go park.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Comfortable clothes that align with the weather in late September. It is an outdoor pavilion on a hill so it can be chilly. We encourage you to wear comfortable walking shoes in hopes that you will participate in our on-site walk. The walk is less than a mile, but is more symbolic in getting the entire PD community to Step Forward and keep moving despite having PD in your life.
Q: Can I register day of the event?
A: We will allow some walk-up registrations, but discourage it since we will be ordering food and drinks in advance, we want that number set in advance of the event.
Q: Will there be food?
A: Yes! We will have two food vendors this year: Evia Authentic Greek Food and Joe and Di’s Cravings serving Pittsburgh inspired eats. We will also have cookies from Mary Mac’s Bakehouse! There will be plenty of delicious eats and treats for all! non-alcoholoic beverages will be available as well. Food is covered in your registration cost.
Q: When will raffle and fundraising winners be announced?
A: We will announce the winners in-person on September 27th! So if you plan to buy raffle tickets or anticipate being a top fundraiser, you should attend! *You don't need to be present to win the 50/50 raffle, but it is highly encouraged.
Q: Will there be a walk?
A: Yes! We will have a leisurely walk around the Shrine center grounds during Step Forward. It will be less than one mile long but will be very symbolic for our community to Step Forward together as we live with Parkinson’s. Wheelchairs and walkers will also be able to participate as the ground is mostly flat and paved.
Q: When will I receive the Add-on purchases I made during registration such as the raffle basket tickets or 50/50 raffle tickets?
A: You will receive them upon check-in at Step Forward on Saturday, September 27th.
Q: Will we receive Step Forward t-shirts this year?
A: No. There will not be Step Forward t-shirts this year, but we will be selling our white PFWPA baseball caps for $20/each!
Q: What vendor resource tables will be there?
A: We had over 20 vendor tables at last year’s Step forward event. Tables will have a variety of vendors. We will post the final list of tables online once all are confirmed.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: The show goes on! The picnic pavilion is covered, so we will have event rain or shine.
