Celebrating it's 50th(!) year, The Book Rack is a local Arlington institution. Opened in 1975 in Lexington, it moved to its current location in Arlington Center in 1999. The Book Rack offers thousands of used books at 50% off the cover price as well as a selection of the hottest new books.

You can also bring in your gently used books for trade points to reduce the price of your used books. Here's how it works.

• Step 1. Bring in a used book with a retail price of (for example) $20. Get a credit for $10.

• Step 2. Buy a used book listed for $10 (half of the original price) and use your credit for another 50% off.

• Step 3. Pay $5 for a book that was originally $20!

How great is that?! The Book Rack is tucked into a pretty small space next to the Regent Theater on Medford St in Arlington Center. But in that small space is an amazing selection of books of every genre. Trust me, it's very (very!) easy to lose yourself in there.
