Things just got a bit tougher in the challenge to cut US carbon emissions and keep our climate safe. Citizens' Climate Lobby/Education is one of the best organizations to meet that challenge. As a volunteer with them since 2012, I'm excited to combine my love of bicycling with a chance to encourage you to support them with a few dollars.

Here's how it works: Giving Tuesday is December 3rd. My goal is to bike 300 miles between today (Nov. 10th) and then, 23 days. That's 13 miles per day, a fair bit more than what I do now. I'll post updates to facebook on my progress.

You can contribute to Citizens' Climate Education on my page and inspire my efforts up to Dec. 3rd. Or you can wait and see if I met my goal, then give accordingly. For example $.10/mile is about $30. But all contributions are most welcome.

Update: THANK YOU to all who have contributed! I reached $300 quicker than I thought possible. And as of 11/25, day 16, I have gone 300 miles. Contributions are still welcome. Again, thank you!

Average temp through day 16: 46 F. Departure from "normal": +5.9 F (per weather.gov). Average miles/day: 18.8.

Average temp since day 16: 26 F. Departure: -8.7 F (every day colder than average). Average miles/day: 3.1.

So either I really slack off when I reach my goal, or I really don't like the cold, or both. :-)
