Vermont Center for Ecostudies 2026 Birdathon

Birdathon is a fundraiser, but it’s also a chance for some fun friendly competition. We have awards and prizes up for grabs to help us celebrate our success!

When you participate in Birdathon as a birder (whether on a team or as an individual) and raise at least $200 to support VCE’s conservation science, you’ll receive a custom embroidered Northern Parula patch.

You’ll also have the opportunity to win the following awards, which earn you bragging rights, a shoutout on our social media, and fun prizes.

Conservation Science Champion Award - most money raised (team and individual categories)

Big Day Birder Award - most species identified (team and individual categories)

Backyard Birder Award - most species identified without leaving your backyard (or other limited geographic area) (team and individual categories) (stationary checklists only)

Fledgling Award - most species identified or funds raised by an individual or team under age 25

Best Birdathon Photo Award - Upload a photo taken during your Birdathon to your fundraising page to be considered for the best Birdathon photo award (team or individual)

Community Scientist Award - Most species with photo or audio documentation uploaded to eBird during Birdathon (team or individual)

College Challenge Award - The college team who raises the most money through their Birdathon will win a pizza party for their college’s bird club! We’ll get you a $100 gift card to a pizza restaurant in your town.
