Vermont Center for Ecostudies 2026 Birdathon

Birdathon is a fundraiser, but it’s also a chance for some fun friendly competition. We have awards and prizes up for grabs to help you celebrate your success!

When you participate in Birdathon as a birder (whether on a team or as an individual) and raise at least $200 to support VCE’s conservation science, you’ll receive a custom embroidered Northern Parula patch.

You’ll also have the opportunity to win the following awards, which earn you bragging rights, a shoutout on our social media, and a custom YETI mug. Stay tuned in early June for an announcement of the winners!

Conservation Science Champion Award for most money raised (team and individual categories)

Big Day Birder Award for most species identified (team and individual categories)

Backyard Birder Award for most species identified on a stationary checklist in your backyard or at another location (team and individual categories) 

Fledgling Award for most species identified individual or team under age 25 (team and individual categories)

Best Birdathon Photo Award for best photo uploaded to your fundraising page, depicting yourself or your team during Birdathon (one category for teams or individuals)

Community Scientist Award for most species with photo or audio documentation uploaded to eBird during Birdathon (one category for teams or individuals)

College Challenge Award for the college team that raises the most money. Win a $100 pizza party for your college’s bird club!
