What does the money raised from Step Up support?

As the primary fundraising initiative of DSACF, the Step Up Walk plays a pivotal role in funding essential programs and resources that support the organization's mission year-round. Here's a glimpse into how these funds are utilized:

  • Facilitating group classes focused on crucial early intervention aspects such as sign language, music therapy, and occupational therapy.
  • Hosting events like New Family Celebrations, providing New Parent Baskets, and extending outreach to hospitals.
  • Organizing Family & Community Group Events to foster connections among parents and children.
  • Conducting Educational Workshops to equip parents with valuable tools for nurturing and caring for the unique needs of raising a child with Down syndrome.
  • Offering Social Skills classes tailored for teenagers with Down syndrome to aid in their transition to adulthood.
  • Arranging social gatherings and programs for adult self-advocates, among other initiatives.
  • Providing sport and physical health programs tailored to the needs of individuals with Down syndrome, promoting their inclusivity, overall well-being, and active lifestyles.

Your participation and support in the Step Up Walk directly contribute to sustaining these vital programs and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
