My Mission
Hi! My name is Jennifer Reyes and I am running a half marathon again! This time in the Windy City of Chicago!! I'm here to ask you to support me and Project Purple to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. If you don't know my story. Why Project Purple? Why pancreatic cancer? Well I will tell you why. I'm adopted. Growing up, I never knew my parents or my medical history. In 2019, I was fortunate to find my biological family. My mother is alive and well, but my father Dennis Batista was not as fortunate and lost his life to pancreatic cancer at 57. In 2023, I started facing some health challenges of my own, and during diagnostic testing unrelated to this disease, a pancreatic cyst was discovered. I have changed my life and started running after my health scare. It not only been great for my physical health but for emotional balance as well.I am fortunate that it is benign but now I will need surveillance for the rest of my life. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay on top of this, but others are not so fortunate, like my father. Many going symptom free before they even aware they are sick. More awareness is needed to bring attention to early detection, diagnosis and treatment. With your help along with Project Purple you can make a difference in my life, those affected by this disease, both patients, families. Support me by donating to my fundraiser and watch me cross that finish line in May! Chicago here I come!
Your support will allow Project Purple to fund critical research for early detection and support more patients and families in need.
