My Mission

My daughter, Julie Gray Nicholls was born on November 29, 2017.  She had Down syndrome.  From the minute we found out about her genetic condition, the Virginia Down Syndrome Association has helped us in ways you can't imagine.  From setting up meal trains when I was on bed rest to bringing gifts or just being there for support and guidance through the whole process, the team at DSAGR has been most helpful. After a long stressful hospital stay, Julie passed away on April 9, 2018 at just a little over 4 months old because her heart was just too tired to go on.  In honor of Julie, we are fundraising so the Virginia Down Syndrome Association can help other families.  From the social groups for all ages (think camping; bowling; painting parties; trampoline parks; and cooking, yoga & gymnastics classes, etc.), to literacy and learning programs, to a newly kicked off summer employment academy, to a First Call program to support new and expecting parents, to a top-notch annual education conference for parents and educators, to an AMAZING Holiday Party, to opportunities for parent networking and support, and so much more... The Virginia Down Syndrome Association has grown in leaps and bounds over the years, providing fantastic support to individuals with Down syndrome and their families, as well as advancing community awareness, acceptance and appreciation for them. For all these reasons, we believe it's a very worthy cause, because it's only through fundraisers like this one  can continue to provide all these wonderful programs and activities.

Our fundraising efforts will support local programs and services, as well advocacy and public awareness initiatives that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome in our community.

Make your tax-deductible donation today and take the first step toward helping us achieve our goal. Thank you for your support!
