I Love Someone Rare

I'm excited to be part of the Dup15q Rare Disease Day Challenge. This incredible initiative is in support of Dup15q Alliance and in honor of Rare Disease Day. Our theme for this year is #RareNotQuiet.

I have chosen to support Dup15q Alliance because I Love Someone Rare and I know the work they are accomplishing in research, advocacy, and supporting families with a loved one with Dup15q syndrome.

February 29, 2024 is the designated “Rare Disease Awareness Day” across the world.

Dup15q syndrome is 1 of 7,000 Rare Diseases.

1 in 20 people will be diagnosed with a rare disease at some point in their life. Despite this, there is no cure for the majority, and many go undiagnosed.

Dup15q syndrome is a genetic disorder with a number of symptoms which can range from epilepsy, to an intellectual disability, and also autism. It can affect individuals' ability to communicate verbally and to live independently.

The Dup15q Alliance is determined in it's commitment to investing in research that will lead to treatments, making positive changes in the daily lives of all who are affected by the syndrome, and walking alongside families in their journey.
