My Mission - Making Adventurous Dreams Come True

I’ve been given the opportunity to take on the adventure of a lifetime: tackling 120-ish miles of Kayaking & Cycling in the Florida Keys. All to support Survivors in making their Epic comeback stories.

Project Athena is an incredible nonprofit that helps survivors of medical or traumatic setbacks live out an adventurous dream as part of their recovery. Each Athena and Zeus (survivors) is gifted a fully funded, multi-day expedition through the financial support of Gods and Goddess (fundraisers like me!).

I’ve committed to raising $4,500 to support this journey. Your donation will help cover the cost of the adventure for survivors and allow Project Athena to continue making these powerful experiences possible.

Please consider supporting me, so more survivors can discover just how strong they still are.

Hello! My name is Sara, and I am both terrified and thrilled to be taking this leap with PAF!

A little about me:

I am a 48-year-old mother and wife. My oldest is 26, a recent law school graduate who is building his own life with his fiancée. My youngest is only 7 and an absolute spitfire. I also have two awesome bonus sons, ages 16 and 24. I also cannot leave out that I am blessed with an incredibly patient and suportive husband!

For the past 25 years, I have worked in a law enforcement capacity within the court system. I have absolutely loved my career, but my position has been incredibly demanding and high stress. At least it was. Today I begin a new chapter! In fact, today was the first day I realized an "excellent night's sleep" was even a thing...according to my smartwatch.

Enter Project Athena.

For the past 10 years, I have heard countless stories about the magic of PAF—not only about the incredible opportunities it offers Athenas and Zeuses in their own journeys, but for Gods and Goddesses as well. Again and again, I hear testimonials about the personal growth that comes through the physical and mental challenge, the confidence gained, and the connections made. But mostly, what I take away is that lives are forever changed because of Project Athena.

I've always wanted to experience the magic for myself, but I've always found a comfortable excuse. I had a demanding and stressful job, I was raising kids, I had too many outside commitments, I wasn't in the physical shape I wanted to be...the list could go on.

All of those things were true.

But today? Today is retirement day. Today is the start of a new chapter. Today is the day I take the first step on a journey to rediscover myself and figure out who I am outside of the career that dictated so many of my thoughts and decisions for the last 25 years.

I have lived in Oklahoma my entire life, but I love to travel. I've visited nearly every state (I think I only have eight left!), and recently I've started venturing internationally. It seems fitting that our most recent adventure, just this month, was to Greece to explore the land of Athena, Zeus, and the other gods and goddesses.

This new chapter is about making PAF and my health a priority while homeschooling my daughter. My dream is to homeschool through travel, so I've also started a travel business focused on curating elevated educational journeys for families.

I can't wait to jump into this new life, begin training, and experience this journey alongside my fellow Goddesses, Gods, Athenas, and Zeuses!
