A-T Children's Project

The Ataxia Telangiectasia Children's Project, better known as the A-T Children's Project, was founded in late 1993 by a family in Florida with two sons who have A-T. It is a public, tax-exempt, non-profit organization pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and all gifts and donations to the Project are tax deductible. The A-T Children's Project was formed to raise funds through events and contributions from corporations, foundations and friends. These funds are then used to accelerate first-rate, international scientific research aimed at finding a cure and improving the lives of all children with ataxia-telangiectasia.

Over the past seven years, we have raised nearly $250,000 through the Million Dollar Bike Ride. In the past, that money has gone to fund a grant at Duke University School of Medicine by Dr. Michael Kastan for a project using novel models of metabolic stress to identify therapeutic interventions for A-as well as groundbreaking work being done by researchers being done in Israel and at New York University.

Our team, Derek's Dreams, rides for 25-year-old Derek DiGregorio, an avid horseback rider and taekwondo instructor in Princeton, NJ. Derek was diagnosed over ten years ago, and in the time since, Derek's Dreams and the incredible group of friends that have stepped up to support Derek have raised over one million dollars to study A-T and work tirelessly towards finding a cure.

The Penn Medicine Orphan Disease Center hosts this event to raise money for research in rare diseases. Please consider donating to our cause and being a part of transformative research. 100% of your donation, less platform fees, will go towards rare disease research.
