Team Emma - Pedal for Pitt Hopkins!

Team Emma!! And my 11th year riding!!

At 6 months, we knew something was not quite right. Our daughter had very poor vision and was beginning to fall behind on her developmental milestones. After many years of searching for answers, our daughter, Emma, was diagnosed with Pitt Hopkins Syndrome. Although there are many things Emma can't do, we like to focus on all the things that she can do including pedaling. She is our beautiful and funny sweet girl who loves her iPad, music and cheering her brother on in soccer and hockey. She absolutely loves to ride her adaptive tricycle so how could we not ride in her honor to raise funds for Pitt Hopkins research!! We are so proud to participate in our 11th ride!

Although a very rare syndrome, we have been so lucky to meet many other families through our community to share information and medical/educational strategies & raise money for research.  For this ride, every dollar raised for Pitt Hopkins (up to $30,000) will be doubled and 100% of the donation will go to research. THANKS SO MUCH to those of you that supported us in the previous years and for those that supported us in 2023. In 2023 Team Emma raised ~$10,225 (including company matches) of the ~$43,473 raised by Pitt Hopkins families and friends. With the $30,000 matched by UPenn, there was 1 grant awarded to: Brady Maher, John Hopkins School of Medicine: Identification of vulnerable cell types and quantification of cell type-specific differential gene expression in the Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome mouse model ($73,473).

Thank you for visiting for supporting Emma, our family and other families with children and young adults with Pitt Hopkins. Please join us on Saturday, June 8 at UPenn or by taking a bike ride and enjoying the outdoors.

The Penn Medicine Orphan Disease Center hosts this event to raise money for research in rare diseases. Please consider donating to our cause and being a part of transformative research.
