McFarland Construction is proud to support the Carolina Youth Coalition. The CYC’s mission is to prepare high-performing, under-resourced students in Charlotte, NC to enter, excel in, and graduate from college so they can be full participants in society. Through our personalized college application support, ACT prep, writing coaching, college tours, mentoring, connection to career exploration and scholarship opportunities, and a tight-knit community of like-minded peers, our "Fellows" are gaining access to and persisting through best-fit colleges on their way toward economic mobility. We specifically target students who are the first in their families to attend college or are Pell grant-eligible.

CYC - By the Numbers
Since its founding in 2018, CYC's first three senior classes have earned over $31 million in scholarship offers while redeeming $7 million. Most importantly, 59% of Fellows who are attending four-year universities are doing so debt-free. CYC Fellows are attending schools such as Brown University, Georgetown University, Georgia Tech, Howard University, University of Miami, UNC-Chapel Hill, New York University, North Carolina A&T, University of Pennsylvania, Wake Forest, and more!
During the 2021-2022 school year, CYC will be serving 150 high school students from 23 schools across the Charlotte area and 77 college students attending 25 different colleges across the country.
