Preserve Cayucos is a community-based organization created to preserve the unique character of Cayucos. Cayucos is a central California beach town with a population of 2,400, only about half of which are year-round residents. Our businesses struggle since their income is dependent upon tourism. Cayucos is a constant target for developers of large-scale projects. The Cayucos school population has been declining steadily because young families cannot afford homes here, and the full-time rental market is being overtaken by short-term vacation rentals. Founded by residents, Preserve Cayucos is the only organization engaging and educating the community to promote healthy, responsible, equitable growth for all residents, visitors, and businesses so that our unique town can thrive for everyone to enjoy.
