Why I Run with Team Hope Story
I am excited for the opportunity to run in the 2026 Princess Half Marathon Weekend for Team Hope Story! You donation to my run helps Hope Story provide no-cost resources to families whose children have receive a Down syndrome diagnosis.
I am running these races for four special children…Bode, Hazel, Paetyn and Piper. These 4 kiddos are the epitome of strength, endurance, passion and pride. When I run, these four will be running with me in spirit to show them that anything is possible if you just have faith, trust and maybe a little bit of pixie dust.
100% of donations received go directly to Hope Story - a non-profit organization that provides no-cost resources to families whose children has received a Down syndrome diagnosis. Hi! My name is Dawn Watson. I’ve run many RunDisney races, as well as many others, from 5Ks to a 50 miler! I’ve run with Team in Training the last 3 Dopey Challenges. But…needed a bit of a change. A very close friend of mine just had a baby who has Down Syndrome. We are both speech pathologists by trade, so I’ve been a support for her during her pregnancy and now with feeding. I also coach a cheerabilities cheer team and a few of my cheerleaders are also diagnosed with Down syndrome. These 4 kiddos show me what perseverance, strength and endurance are all about! Hope Story was a huge support for my friend who just had her baby and a huge part why was because Hope Story treats people as people and not as a diagnosis and that meant the world to her…and me. So, here I am…new challenge accepted to make a difference for these 4 families as well as many others.
