Our Ruff Ride team is so excited for this year at the 23rd Street Armory to help provide accredited, life-saving service dogs to injured and disabled Veterans. Ruff Ride benefits Team Foster, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit raising money to provide accredited, life-savings service dogs to injured and disabled Veterans. Our team believes our Veterans deserve BETTER & MORE. Please see stats below which illustrate the relevance of this mission.

• An estimated 41% of veterans are in need of mental health care programs every year.

• The VA does NOT pay for service dogs for PTSD due to the false belief from previous studies with non-accredited trainers that dogs could “result in unintended and negative consequences” and characterized service dogs as an “unsubstantiated treatment regime.”

• Through the VA, only 19 dogs were placed with Veterans in 2019. Yet, one-in-five Veterans come home with service-related PTSD.

• 7 out of every 100 Veterans will have PTSD.

• In August 2023, 5.3 million veterans, or 30% of all veterans, had a service-connected disability.
