Why We Bird-A-Thon for Palomarin

Our Palomarin Field Station team is thrilled to be participating in Point Blue's 2024 Rich Stallcup Bird-A-Thon! The goal is to identify as many bird species as possible in a 24-hour period between September 15 and October 15 in order to raise funds for our work.

Please consider helping our team reach our fundraising goal by making a flat donation, or by pledging a dollar amount per bird seen. Our team is made up of Palomarin staff, interns, apprentices and alumni who all have personally experienced the impact of this place. For an added impact, we urge you to consider selecting "Palomarin" under the gift designation so your pledge will directly support our field station's long-term bird monitoring, early-career training, and conservation science outreach. By doing so, you immediately are considered a Steward of Palomarin - a member of the community of supporters who help Palomarin continue to thrive and allow us to run these programs.

Oh, and: we are The Lookers because we dress up and bird to make this truly a special occasion - our motto being bird hard, stay focused, and look good. See our 2023 group photo (by Kaare Iverson).

Thank you for your generous support of our team. To learn more about the Palomarin Field Station visit the Palo webpage, or about Point Blue Conservation Science visit www.pointblue.org.

Make a donation online by clicking "donate" above, or mail a check made out to Point Blue Conservation Science to ATTN: Rich Stallcup Bird-A-Thon, Point Blue Conservation Science, 3820 Cypress Dr STE 11, Petaluma, CA 94954 (and please include the name of the birder or team you are supporting in the memo line and the Palomarin gift designation).

Please note: If you would like to make a pledge per species (which we love as added incentive!), please select a team member's individual page. Your pledge will be counted toward the team's fundraising total.

Our team had a wonderful Bird-A-Thon on October 7th with 137 species! Great looks at a Mountain Plover and Lapland Longspurs, and a big surprise of a Long-tailed Jaeger. Thanks so much to all our amazing sponsors. And it's not too late: we are still raising funds even though we've already done the count, and hope you will consider if you haven't already sponsored us!

Thank you for your support! We had a great day of birding and saw 136 (or maybe 137?) species. A couple highlights for me were Long-tailed Jaeger, Mountain Plover, and Red Knot.
