Why we support Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Month

Representing the ARIZONA SPOHNC FAMILY (support for people with oral/head/neck cancer) state and nationwide, we are very excited to join this initiative with Head & Neck Cancer Alliance! The HNC Alliance's mission is very important to us, and we welcome your support by JOINING OUR TEAM.

You can participate several ways:

1) COME TO THE FIRST ANNUAL ARIZONA SPOHNC FAMILY head/neck cancer awareness WALK this April! Pencil it in your calendars now... the walk will be April 26th at 10am. The location is GRANADA PARK at 6505 N 20th St, Phoenix, AZ 85016, which is pretty central (we hope!) for people coming from all over our Valley. It has ample parking, public restrooms, picnic tables, and we will have a 5k path mapped out!!! Look for us with SPOHNC table cloths, blue shirts, and balloons. It will be a beautiful morning and a wonderful event to take a walk "for a purpose", collaborate with others who have walked in your shoes, and spend time in community with other patients, survivors, and medical professionals as well. This first annual event, combining SPOHNC and the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance is VERY exciting and will hopefully serve to spread awareness about head/neck cancer and more importantly, CELEBRATE SURVIVORSHIP!!! We are also excited to be joining all of our wonderful ARIZONA SPOHNC groups TOGETHER for this collaborative event as well as many medical professionals. We will also see representatives from AQUORAL and TACTILE MEDICAL! Additionally, we now also have had shirts made through Head and Neck Cancer Alliance and SPOHNC that say TEAM SPOHNC ARIZONA .. If you would like to purchase one (and hopefully wear it every year!), head to this LINK to do so, which is now live!... If not, no problem.. But try to wear blue! I'll be getting one.. I believe they are $20. 🙂 Feel free to also send the shirt link to others who are interested in joining the walk.. The more the merrier .. And the more in matching shirts, the better for awareness!

Please email me with any questions or to get more information.. also stay tuned for more details to be posted here as well.

2) You can donate to our cause if you are able and/or feel inclined to do so. Your donation (and involvement in our event!) will help further the Head/Neck Cancer Alliance's mission to provide hope and support to individuals impacted by head and neck cancer, raise awareness about prevention and early detection, and advocate for improved patient outcomes.

3) The mission of the Move-a-thon is MOVEMENT to spread AWARENESS the whole month of April (which is head/neck cancer awareness month). Therefore, to participate further, you can also track your "minutes of movement" during the month. Consider setting a goal for yourself.. movement is medicine! And we will all come together at the end of the month for the WALK!

Every dollar counts and gets us closer to our goal, every minute counts in your MOVEMENT, and we hope to see all of you in person on April 26th!

Thank you so much for your support, and we CAN'T WAIT to see you there!

April was a very active month for me!

My math initially wasn't great. I hoped for an hour/day avg. Duh- 1800 minutes!

I : walked, hiked kayaked & golfed!

Estimating 1200 minutes- most likely more.

Thanks so much for the support & I'm pleased to assist this wonderful cause.
