Music is the Mission

Welcome to Team Evangenitals! We are honored to join this incredible initiative and help to raise funds in memory of Brett Rothfeld -- incredible bassist, garlic lover, and friend to animals and humans. This organization's mission is very important to us and we're proud to help them make a difference.

Please support us by giving to our page. Every dollar counts and will help to provide access to instruments and music lessons to people of all ages that wish to learn the bass. Thank you!

ALMOST THERE! Things have been crazy, but I've still been practicing daily -- usually in the middle of the night, sure, but still daily! We had a festive potluck on Friday and MUCH noise was made, both by Mike and I and our band, and by our kiddo and HIS band. There was noise. I can now finger pick All of Me with my eyes closed. I figured out how to hold down a standard blues bassline. It may seem minuscule to some, but I'm celebrating every revelation! I hope to continue this daily practice now that I've got the beginnings of a habit... and I will make an All of Me video as soon as I get a chance!

WEEK THREE! DAY 17! Today I shook things up by practicing All of Me on BOTH the guitar AND the upright bass. Playing it on the guitar helped me to figure out how to move the fingering up the neck and play it in a different position, moving more across the strings, rather than spending a whole lot of it moving up and down the G string over great distances. It was a great discovery, and now I'm transposing what I figured out onto the upright. Discoveries about on Day 17!

WEEK THREE! DAY 15! It's a late night practice, but it's a still a practice, dammit! Got my 15 minutes of All of Me, and some C scales to boot. I'm going to try to make a video of this piece soon to share. I'm chagrined to admit that this is probably the most consecutive days I have ever practiced the upright, ever. I took bass lessons for SEVEN YEARS but was never consistent with practicing, so I never made the progress that I wished I (magically) would (without practicing consistently). It's annoying and true that the secret to pretty much any kind of creative capability is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE... Okay, okay. We get it!

I continue to be thrilled to be participating in this, hope more folks get on board and donate, and am beyond happy to be building this long dreamed of practice habit.

Thanks #BrettsBassFund community for making it possible!

xoxo
