Our kids. Our schools. Our community. Join the team and help every child learn to read.

Wichita State Shockers are teaming up with Champions for Literacy and International Paper to support United Way’s childhood literacy efforts.

All money raised will fund literacy programs, provide resources, and buy books featuring diverse characters to help kindergarten through third-grade students in the Shocker Neighborhood learn to read.

DID YOU KNOW:

  • Students not reading at grade level by fourth grade are four times more likely to drop out of school.
  • 79% of Wichita third graders were not reading proficiently during the 2022 – 2023 school year.
  • Illiterate kids grow into illiterate adults – and 43% live in poverty compared to 4% of literate adults.

MAKE YOUR DONATION TODAY!

100% of donations will stay local to provide books, resources, and tutoring to help children birth through third-grade students learn to read.

$10 provides 2 books for a child.

Thanks to International Paper, the first $5,000 raised will be matched, dollar-for-dollar
