Our Mission
Take Stock in Children is a non-profit organization that helps low-income students escape the cycle of poverty through mentorship, college preparation and scholarship. We provide students with one-on-one mentoring, college success coaching, the opportunity to earn college scholarships and tools for success in college and careers.
Purpose
This year Take Stock in Children is presenting Dollars for Scholars, our inaugural 5K and 6-hour endurance event. This event is not just a race; it is a valuable opportunity for our community to come together and support the future. The funds raised will go directly towards providing a $500 allowance for Class of 2025 students to purchase a computer, dorm essentials, or campus fees.
The Dollars for Scholars race is more than just a financial boost; it is an investment in the holistic development of our students. With the funds raised, we will be able to enhance our college prep programs, including essential campus tours that allow students to envision their future, SAT/ACT workshops to bolster their test-taking skills, and soft skills coaching to prepare them for the professional world. Additionally, financial literacy programs equip them with the knowledge to manage their finances effectively, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
