I’m birding for a better world! Can you cheer me on?
I'm excited to be a part of Feminist Bird Club's Birdathon for Birders of Palestine! I’ve been unable to donate to individual campaigns so I’ve spent my time sharing Palestinian fundraisers online and chatting with individual Palestinians in Gaza. I’m glad I found FBC, so that I can now help to raise funds for Birders of Palestine. This is one small way that I can contribute.
Our birding community is coming together to celebrate the inclusive nature of bird joy while fundraising for Birders of Palestine, an independent project fundraising to support Palestinian birdwatchers.
Please help me reach my goal by leaving a flat donation or making a pledge to support my birding efforts! Your support will help provide critical funds to birders and their families as they try to survive genocide and ethnic cleansing, and encourage their love for birding.
You can also support the Palestinian birders and their families directly by purchasing a print on the Birders of Palestine website. Submit your receipt here and note that your purchase is to support my fundraising campaign!
Thank you for considering and stay tuned for my birding updates! 🐦

I reached $150 for the Birders of Palestine birdathon in support of the Sirdah twins! I also just got an email from Feminist Bird Club saying they’re keeping donations open through 10/30. Any amount helps so please share this fundraiser if you can.
Thank you all so much for donating. I really appreciate you.

It’s the last day of the Birders of Palestine birdathon and I just found my 10th species: a red-shouldered hawk! I’m at $127 for the Sirdah twins. Please continue to share this fundraiser. And thank you so much again! I appreciate all of you.

Hi hi! I found one more species today, a red-bellied woodpecker. I could hear it clearly in the trees but unfortunately couldn’t spot it. Too bad this wasn’t last week when one decided to hang off the window awning!
I’m still sitting at $117 raised for Mandy and Lara Sirdah. The birdathon continues through tomorrow so I’d love to get to $150. Please share with anyone you know. And thank you so much again!

It’s day 3 of the #birdathon! I apologize for lack of updates yesterday: I spent almost 8 hrs at the ER vet w/Lily. I’m searching for 2 more species and I’m up to $117 in donations for the Sirdah twins, so thank you! Please share on social media, and with friends and family.

What a great first day! Thanks to all of you, we’ve raised $81 towards my goal. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate every one of you. Please continue to share with others if you can so we can help Mandy and Lara Sirdah.
I’m also happy to report that I identified 8 total species today: blue jay, American crow, northern mockingbird, northern cardinal, house sparrow, turkey vulture, Carolina wren, and white-throated sparrow. I wasn’t counting on the white-throated sparrows! They left in the spring and I knew they’d be back for autumn/winter, but I wasn’t sure when. They like to sleep in our bamboo and I thought I heard one last night, but was like nah. And the the sun set this evening and there were a bunch of voices! They made me so happy. This is why birding is so special.
Until tomorrow!
