Make every bird count
Birdathon is our biggest fundraiser of the year, with a 2023 peer-to-peer fundraising goal of raising $35,000 to protect Bay Area birds. We invite you to share your birding enthusiasm with friends and family while raising money to support eco-education in Title I schools, local habitat restoration along our precious Bay Area shoreline, and conservation advocacy to protect resident and migrant bird populations.
This year we're excited to announce that it's now easier than ever to create your own fundraising campaign on behalf of Golden Gate Audubon and accept per-species pledges from your community! So what are you waiting for, let the counting and birdathon commence!
Call on your community. Count birds. Create a bird-friendly world.

Fundraise as an Individual or Group!
Of all the ways to participate in this year’s Birdathon, creating your own fundraising campaign might be the easiest and most exciting way to support local bird conservation!
If you’re already planning on birding sometime between now and May 15th, you can simply set a “number of species” goal for yourself and get members of your community to make one-time donations or per-species pledges to your campaign (like a walkathon, but instead of miles your logging number of species seen).
Groups who would like to fundraise as a group can form teams ( this is different than participating in the Bay Birding Challenge, which is specific to teams who wish to compete in a Big Day competition on April 1st)
Bay Birding Challenge
The Bay Birding Challenge returns for its 2nd year! During this "Big Day" birding competition teams will compete to see who can find the most bird species on Saturday April 1st.
With two teams (SF, and East Bay) already in place, you can cheer on your favorite team(s) by donating via per-species pledges or one-time donations to a team’s campaign page.
Think you have what it takes to compete? Form your own team by March 11 for a chance to claim the title of Bay Birding Challenge Champion and support Golden Gate Audubon in the process.

Whichever team wins, this is definitely a win-win for GGAS! I want each team to reach its goal! In the long run, it benefits all the birds in our area! I'm just sorry I've been so busy that I haven't been able to actively participate, but kudos to all of you!!!
